Urological consultation — the first step to better health
A urological consultation is a comprehensive appointment including a detailed medical history, physical examination (including digital rectal examination of the prostate), urinary tract and abdominal ultrasound, and laboratory test orders.
When to see a urologist
- Voiding problems (urinary frequency, urgency, weak stream, nocturia)
- Pain in the kidney, bladder or testicular region
- Blood in the urine (haematuria)
- Elevated PSA
- Recurrent urinary tract infections
- Kidney or ureteral stones
- Prevention — men over 40 should have their prostate checked regularly
